Black and White
photographs offered by Desert Reef Industries are all personally printed in my darkroom which was converted from a walk-in freezer salvaged from a defunct grocery store.
I utilize a specialized technique of split filtering on all of my black and white prints.
Split filtering requires that highlights be exposed first on to photographic paper.
Then, after a change of filter, the same paper is exposed for the shadows.
Thus, each print is actually exposed at least twice before being placed into the developer.
I use a fiber-based paper and all my prints are toned in selenium for archivability.
The prints are matted in white and framed in black metal frames.
I believe that a frame should never detract from the photo but should only serve to define the border.
